I am always looking for good information that will help me be a better doctor and pet owner. I know that our dogs and cats are members of our family and we will move heaven and earth to keep them safe, healthy, and happy. Here are a few websites that I personally use and would recommend. Let me know what you think of them and if you have any others that would help us all be better parents to these wonderful kids.
Dr. Werner
Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisper, has an interesting and informative website that may help you be a calm and assertive pack leader with your animal. I have learned from him and have had the pleasure of meeting him. Check it out!
Heartworm in our dogs, and even our cats can be a killer. It is important to have your family member checked at their annual exam for heartworm and to keep them on a heartworm preventitive year round. We live in an area where heartworm is found, so be wise, and keep them safe. We use two types of HW preventitive, Revolution, which is a topical applicatioin and also prevents fleas, and some ticks and Interceptor, which is a pill. The American Heartworm Society has more information on HW and its effects on our animals.
Robin Dance had a dream of starting an non-profit organization to save dogs and cats here in Henderson and the surrounding communities. She has made that dream come true through Pay It Forward Animal Welfare. If you are looking for a new addition to your home, or you want to be part of a rescue organiztion, I recommend this one.
Traveling with our furry family member has become part of our lives. I am always looking for a pet friendly hotel or motel to stay when I am on the road with Scout or Poochie. These websites are finding just the right place for your stay. If my dog isn't welcome, neither am I.
Have you heard about the new Airlines exclusively for pets? It started on July 14th and already has a waiting list. One of our clients has checked it out in order to fly her granddog back home to California. The service starts at $149. Her quote, to fly her daughter's baby back to her from Chicago to Los Angeles was $199. The pets are on board the airplane, not in cargo for the flight. There is an attendant who makes sure they have water and are comfortable. What a great idea!!!
An interesting and informative website for cat moms and dads is sponsored by the Morris Foundation. This site has good features. They support a Healthy Cat Campaign. Also check out the CATalyst website that lists the top ten cities for happy cats.
Want to know more about those nasty parasites that plague our cats and dogs. Have a look at this website to learn more than you ever wanted to know about them. Knowledge is power. Keep yourself informed!
